Mind Reader … how long will it take to get there?

Technorati Tags: ,,,

This week I have heard about an interesting research that Intel is pioneering on a software that allows to “read” human mind “thoughts” : CNET on the TechHeaven Intel announcement.

Although the technology is still in its infancy (it allows to detect with 90% confidence a word that a person has just been thinking about … provided that the same word has been already acquired by the mind monitoring system) it opens a lot of thoughts on the future possibilities of this kind of technology: how long will it take before we get to have a “mind reader”? will it be used to interact with electronic devices and/or other human beings?

Sounds like some of the Fringe’s projects are coming to reality …

Toyota and the secret of innovation

James Surowiecki wrote a wonderful article in the New Yorker explaining why he thinks Toyota is one of the best examples of innovative company.

Worth reading it.

The following presentation from Garr Reynolds (author of PresentationZen) has a lot of insights on how to produce effective visual presentations:

BrainRules: how to make effective presentations

There is a wonderful post on PresentationZen about the rules that we should follow when building an effective presentation not sticking to the PowerPoint style (text-based bullet lists ... you know what I mean).

It's based on the work of Prof. Medina who created the BrainRules site.

You have to take a look at it!
